In December 1981, Amb. Prof. Maria Nzomo became the first Kenyan woman to obtain a Ph.D in Political Science and International Studies, Dalhousie University (Canada). She also holds an M.A in Political Science, McMaster University (Canada) and a B.A Hons in Political Science, University of Nairobi (Kenya). She is a Professor of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Nairobi. She was previously Ambassador of Kenya, 2003-2009.
