The Monkey Trap
Many of have seen or heard of a Monkey Trap--a singularly effective way of capturing a monkey without inflicting any harm at all. It consists of placing some desirable item--food or a shiny object--inside a container and leaving it in plain sight. The trick lies in the fact that the hole of the container is of a shape that allows a hand to enter easily, but does not allow a fist to escape. When the monkey grabs the treat, he cannot remove his hand from the trap without letting go of his "prize". And time after time, though they screech in fright or frustration, the monkeys have proven that they won't let go.
Silly monkey! Is that trinket or tasty worth your freedom?
