I finished matric in 1992 at Edendale Technical High School in Pietermaritzburg and in 1994 I studied a Secondary Teacher's Diploma at Indumiso College of Education. From 1997 up to 2006 I taught around Pietermaritzburg High Schools e.g Sobantu, Edendale Technical and Georgetown. After studying Labour Law at UKZN I left teaching and worked for Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO), first in Pretoria and then in Durban from 2006 to April 2009.
