Graduated with a BSc. (hons) Biotechnology in 2002 from the National University of Ireland Maynooth. In 2003, he completed a MSc. in Occupational health; where he worked as an occupational health researcher associate on a national human impact assessment survey examining social and environmental risks in Ireland. Subsequently he worked in health and safety disciplines advising on industrial and healthcare risk management in Ireland.
