Work Experience
Avaya Inc., November 2009 Present
Admin | Architect | Developer | Product Owner | Scrum Master
Member of the "Avaya Forge" ALM 5 person team (Forge). Our goal
was better and faster tools for R&D and lower cost for Avaya.
The 'Forge brings together GForge, JIRA, Crucible, Bamboo, Confluence,
Sonar, and Nexus to provide a comprehensive, low-cost, but high value
enterprise level development and software build environment. The
'Forge is currently the Avaya enterprise standard.
We develop this complex environment and administrate it. Taking on
day to day operations from backups to monitoring to patching, across
Windows, OS/X and several flavors of Linux. We also manage our own
hardware (server room) and contingency plans.
In addition to my role as developer and administrator, I often act as an
architect; gather requirements, flush out designs and work with
stakeholders in various management teams to ensure it comes together
properly, from PHP code to business processes, I underline diligence.
Key Achievements:
Divested of Nortel and mentored other teams in becoming experts within
Avaya.
Championed JIRA as the enterprise level issue tracker, displacing two
other entrenched tools, and reaping a huge cost savings/avoidance at
the enterprise level.
Architected RBAC framework so Avaya can continue to collaborate easily,
while still protecting intellectual property where appropriate.
Architected & implemented monitoring framework similar to Pandora for
our J2EE apps, build farm and artifact repositories. Includes database
monitoring and has been key to our 99% uptime goals.

Education
1996-2002 Carleton
Master of Applied Science in the
school of Systems & Computer
Engineering. My thesis work focused
on developing tools for studying the
psychological aspects of
programming. The final result was a
tool capable of searching industrial
source code for certain psychological
models. A survey was conducted on

implementation was over 2.5Kloc.
Graduate students in their own
modelers have used this same source
code successfully

million lines of code). Received a patent related to compression for parts of work on
Guru.
Later worked on extensive Guru based (hitless) patch authoring and analysis tooling. Was
