Scorniceti is a town in Romania located in Olt county. With a population of around 11,766, it was declared a town in 1989. Scorniceti is best known as the birthplace of former Romanian president Nicolae Ceauescu, who ruled from 1965 to 1989. The town consists of Scorniceti and 13 surrounding villages and has numerous tourist attractions related to Ceauescu, including his childhood home, as well as cultural festivals, sports, and recreational complexes.
