Here's how digital filmmaking works:
First, the film is shot on tapes (which cost a few hundred rupees per tape of one hour) compared to film (which costs a thirteen thousand rupees per reel of 4 minutes) and the images stored digitally are transferred to the computer.
The footage, known as `rushes' of the film, is then edited using non-linear editing software like AVID, EDIT or Final Cut Pro. Special effects, if any, are added.
Once the soundtrack and dubbing is done, the film is then transferred to the server that will relay it to the theatres equipped with digital projection systems. But since there are not too many theatres equipped with such digital projection sys...
