This project was undertaken to identify the Primary Growth Angle 1 (PGA1) gene in Arabidopsis thaliana. The PGA1 gene is involved in the gravitropic response of A. thaliana. Transformation-Competent (TAC) JAtY clones containing wild-type arabidopsis DNA in the region of the PGA1 gene were used to look for molecular complementation of the mutant phenotype. Fall 2014-Independent Research "Agar plate method for selection of herbicide resistant Arabidopsis thaliana." Agar plate selection of herbicide resistant A. thaliana seedlings was conducted to identify possible transformants. Herbicide resistance along with an upright growth angle indicate the presence of JAtY DNA and the presence of the PGA1 gene in the seedling.
