Associate Professor Nancy Yen-wen Cheng, RA, LEED AP, is Director of University of Oregon's Portland Architecture Program where she teaches architectural design and computer methods. She researches how digital tools shape the design thinking. She is interested in maximizing creative engagement through sketching, handcraft and material properties combined with sophisticated modeling and machine processes. Since teaching at the University of Hong Kong in 1993-96, Nancy has studied how the Internet can foster learning communities. She is working with the Inter/National Coalition for Electronic Portfolio Research to explore how Web 2.0 tools can support development of communication and colla
