Nathan learned several skills in designing magazine covers and layouts. He learned how to organize content on the page using left and right positioning. He also learned how to use different fonts, styles, colors, and images to emphasize certain elements and tie the design together. Nathan improved his photo editing skills as well, learning how to manipulate layers, colors, and effects to enhance images.
4. Skills I have learned
The organization of space. This
has a greater use of the left
and right to place content
Fonts. I learned how to use
different style to emphasise
certain words through italics,
bold serif and sans serif.
Colour. I learned how to tie in
the house style with the
picture, by using exactly the
same shades of colour as those
that are in James jacket. And
they contrast with the rest of
the picture
The position of images. This
picture is organised to work
within the frame.
The use of Camera. This image
had a much clearer shallow
depth of field, and a better
quality.
Layer effects. The puff has a
white outline, and the text on
the album cover has a shadow
effect on it.
5. Skills I have learned (contd.)
Layers: II learnt a lot about
structure. Such as how to put
an opaque square above an
image to allow the text to be
clearer
Contents: I learned more about
how music magazines work,
with special features.
Images: I learned that different
images have different
denotations and connotations,
so that they would fit in
different parts of the magazine
Editing: The image has two
layers. One is James an done is
the background. The
background has colour
removed, and James has had
colour added.
Text: I learned how to organise
text to highlight the more
important sections and leave
enough space for the sub text.
