Senior Chief Gary Simpson was born in Portland, Jamaica and moved to the United States May 1980 and grew up in Miami, Fl. He graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in June 1984.
Senior Chief Simpson enlisted in the Navy September 1988 and completed recruit basic training in Orlando, Fla. He attended apprentice level training at Fleet ASW Training Center, Norfolk, VA as an Ocean Systems Technician Analyst (OTA).
