Graduated Istanbul Technical University in 1975 having Mining Engineering Degree from Mining Department. In 1978 I went to the USA as a student having a scholarship from Turkish Iron and Steel Works to study M.Sc. in mining engineering. I continued to English Language Program in Colombia University for 1 year. I graduated from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology having M.Sc. in 1981 and came back to Turkey.
I worked for General Directorate of Turkish Mineral Exploration and Resources for a short time before I served in the Turkish Army in 1976. After military duty, I worked Turkish Black Sea Hard Coal Enterprise for 1 year.
