Define the term parts of speech
Parts of speech is defined as one classes into which words are
divided according to their grammar, such as noun, verbs,
adjectives etc.
The words that make up the sentences we use
8 Common Parts of speech
1. Noun
2. Adjective
3. Verbs
4. Adverbs
5. Conjunction
6. Preposition
7. Interjection
8. Articles
 1.Noun: A word which names a person, place, object, feeling or idea
 Here are 5 different types of nouns common, proper, pronoun, collective and abstract noun
 2.Adjectives: A word which supplies more information about a noun
 Example: The over weight man stepped out of a vehicle
 3.Verbs: A word which indicates action
 Example: The man steps out of the car
 4.Adverb: A word which supplies more information about a verb
 Examples: Lindi walked confidently across the round.
 5.Conjunction: A linking word which joins words or parts of sentences
 Until, because, Although and etc.
 Example: Thabo filled the water tank because it was empty.
 6.Preposition: A word which shows the relationship of one thing to another
 Examples Lerato works at the petrol station
 Her friend Lesedi works with her
 This 2 sentences follow the verbs
 7.Interjection: A word which conveys an emotion and which is usual part of spoken English
 Example of words like hi, wow and eish that we use mostly when we talk or express our feeling to our friends
but these are words we would not use in a formal conversation.
 8. Articles:
 Definite Article: indicates one particular thing
 = The
 Example When we say The car we referring to a specific car
 Indefinite Article: indicates a single thing but not a particular one
 A or An
 Example=A car refers to any car
