Adam and the creature both question their existence and purpose after being created by God and Victor Frankenstein respectively. While God created Adam as a normal human and aided him, Victor created the creature as a hideous being and then abandoned him. This led the creature to live alone in the woods, rejected by society. There are parallels between the characters' relationships with their creators and the author's relationship with their parents, as no child asks to be born but parents still aim to teach right from wrong even if mistakes are still made. Some parents also fail to properly care for their children or want nothing to do with them, similar to how Victor created and then abandoned the creature.
