Holding a M.Sc. in Agricultural Science (Ing茅nieur agronome) with specialization in soil sciences from the University of Louvain and a post-graduate degree in tropical and subtropical agronomy from the Agricultural Faculty of Gembloux in Belgium.
Following a two year volunteer assignment in Congo, joined IITA from 1978 to 1987 as research & extension agronomist and team leader of the Cameroon National Root Crops Improvement Programme. Since 1988, working as free-lance consultant, mostly in Africa for FAO (TCI, AGP, SDR, ESN), IFAD, EU, as well as the Belgian and German development cooperation.
