I taught at Northwestern University for 25 years. I was invited to the University of South Carolina to help build a new 4 year university--a major challenge, but an exciting place to be. I am honored to have been invited. The Lowcountry is a fantastic place to be.
I have been married to Rick Hoel since 1981. I have a stepdaughter, Jen, who came to live with us when she was 12. Rick and I have a daughter, Jamie, who graduated from NYU and has been teaching for 2 years in New York City and received her Masters in Teaching in May 2008. I have 3 grandchildren (All can be seen in my pho5to section). My most interesting research siince I received my PhD is the interviewing and gathering
