My medical career began in 1989, when I first became an emergency medical technician at Penn State, where I went to college. The certification was necessary for my major, but ended up becoming my life's mission.
My first job in the medical field was working at an outdoor adventure camp for four years, as part of their medical team. I was eventually put in charge of it, and was responsible for the health and well-being of up to five hundred people that came through our facility each summer and fall, staff and campers combined.
