Peter is the architect and led the development of the innovative distributed information system called TOPIC that underpinned the London Stock Exchange’s move from floor to screen trading at the time of Big Bang in 1986. Unlike the proprietary green screens that were then the norm, TOPIC used open standards, and featured colour screens to indicate price trends, blue for up and red for down, a convention has been widely adopted.
