Hooker's evening primrose is a native herbaceous biennial/perennial plant that grows 3-6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It has large gray-green basal leaves and bright lemon-yellow flowers that open in the late afternoon and remain open until morning sunlight. It is well suited for natural plantings and dry gardens, providing habitat and forage for pollinators and seed-eating birds. Propagation is by seed sown in fall through spring without pretreatment in full sun to part shade soils with little to occasional summer water.
