Piet van der Meer is trained as a biologist and a lawyer at the State University of Leiden, the Netherlands, with specialisations in microbiology and ecology, as well as environmental and international law.
After working for 14 years for the Dutch Government, he is currently active as independent consultant and as guest professor at the University of Ghent.
