Presenting: Health-Wealth: The Six Words that Killed American Healthcare
Hyper inflation in healthcare is killing the American dream. We shop for cars by comparing
quality and price. We do the same when buying a home. Why dont we shop healthcare?
Well, because weve always been told that our insurance will pay for it. As long as we keep
that attitude costs will continue to skyrocket.
This entertaining presentation identifies the connection between engaging in healthcare
decisions and preserving wealth. It showcases how millennial culture can positively infect the
home and workplace to not only shift the paradigm in America to a healthy living perspective,
but at the same time drive your personal healthcare costs down by as much as 30%.
The key to reducing healthcare costs is to become an Engaged Healthcare Consumer.
Healthcare has become unaffordable for the average American. Its also bankrupting
American business as the hyperinflation is out of control year over year. After conducting
extensive research in preparation for authoring a book for Forbes, Dr. Luke discovered a true
length between health and wealth, and developed a formula of proven tactics and practices
that can save both individuals and businesses significant dollars on healthcare spending while
living a healthier lifestyle! But until the individual becomes and EHC, it will never happen!

As a participant in the Q4i conference, we assume you are here because you want to help
transform the healthcare business and solve for the runaway cost issues and lack of quality
outcomes that have led to the situation that Employers find themselves in.
In this presentation, we will reshape the paradigm and truly focus on quality transparency and
make us all realize how silly it has not existed up until now. To accept that quality is a
constant for all providers is like assuming that every human was meant to be 7 feet tall. Not
accurate or far from true. The fact of the matter is that quality does matter and patients
deserve to know. In addition, many brokers and consultants are misguided into thinking that
network discounts matter, they dont. In fact, if you are paying network discounted rates at
55% or whatever it might be, you are paying retail costs for care. Who pays retail costs
anymore? Answer: No one.
In this presentation, be ready for the new norm and do not accept network discounts or the
belief that every doctor provides the same quality of care.

Our OneBeacon team is excited for the opportunity to speak at your Q4Intel conference.
Julie, Amy and I will be collaboratively presenting on educating the audience on the Stop
Loss Building Blocks for the New Normal.
Our focus will be on how to transition from the status quo medical stop loss approach to
valuable consultative methodology. Key strategic concepts for consultants to consider include
transparency, commissions, policy features, managing large dollar claimants, disclosure,
eliminating gaps and lasering. In this session, OneBeacon will provide a solid foundation on
how to build out the appropriate catastrophic medical stop loss policy to adequately cover
your clients health plan.

Based on an employers business needs, being fully insured may be the best and/or only
option.
By redesigning the way they deliver their benefits while still being fully insured, you can
provide the upside that employers typically enjoy by going truly self-funded: significantly
lower cost, completely customized benefits and fully transparent claims reporting, with
virtually none of the risk.
When only paying for claims as theyre incurred, with a guaranteed cap, employers are able to
offer the most cost effective plan, control their own claims data to track where the dollars are
actually being spent and get out of the cycle of potentially having to move carriers, change
networks or take benefits away from employees to control costs.

Focusing on frequency and per unit cost is a function of managing the health care supply
chain.
This paradigm shift is available for any group that chooses to pursue a self-funded or partially
self-funded (level-funded) arrangement, as employers only pay for the health claims their
people consume.
By managing the supply chain, which are the actual cost of the items utilized like office visits,
surgeries, imaging, hospitals and drugs, buyers are able to pay attention to the cost and
quality of each unit of healthcare, then collectively they are able to lower costs together and
improve the predictability of outcomes.
Reduce the health care costs, and you reduce the health insurance costs.

I know So&So on the plan is pretty sick...why isn't anyone from insurance helping him/her? Stoploss is
asking questions about these high dollar claimants and the only information I can get is "they failed to
engage so the case was closed". Isn't there something more that can be done? I've got all these
reports OR claims data, but I'm not quite sure how to analyze it, OR what to do with it after it's
analyzed. Can somebody help? I'm not sure which cost containment strategies are going to be
meaningful and/or generate ROI for my client. Is there some way I can cut through the vendor clutter
and actually make reliable recommendations? I've already purchased every cost containment product
I can find, but my client's plan is still running hot. I've got this fully insured group that really ought to
be self-funded, but I can't get good data from the carrier, can't get a competitive stoploss quote, or
am having trouble getting the client to understand their REAL financial risk versus their potential
maximum liability. I've got this really unique, weird, special, hard, at risk/high jeopardy (they're going
to fire me if I don't do something), needy, demanding, cutting edge, creative, "really gets it", about to
go bankrupt, frustrated, unionized, paternalistic, about to get an 85% rate hike/renewal, has two $5m
lazers, cost conscious group...won't somebody please save me? (OBTW, they're only 6 ee lives!! LOL)
If you've found yourself in any of these situations, or you've asked yourself these (or similar)
questions, then this is for you. Nurse Deb is here to help (and specializes in really unique, weird....etc)

We all know that prescription drugs are the primary driver of employer health care costs,
rising an average of 12% a year.
But why are drug prices so high in the US? And why do American's pay 60% more for
prescription drugs vs. the rest of the world? Lets peel back the onion and take a look.
Warning its gonna stink and it may make you cry, but in order to find a solution, we must first
understand the problem.

Benefit advisors have an incredible opportunity to make healthcare more affordable and
accessible.
There are strategies that have emerged, and are evolving, that allow you to help employers
regain control over their healthcare purchasing. Executing on these strategies is far more time
consuming and requires juggling way more variables than before. This additional work comes
at a time when advisors are facing far greater demand on their time for compliance,
marketing, HR, etc.
I want to show you how you can execute on these innovative healthcare strategies you hear
about in the most efficient way possible.

Rhea Campbell: Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a true team player in health plan design. It can fit
into any plan along the continuum of plan designs from fully insured to partially self-funded
to self-funded with bundles. We think of DPC as your partner, creating and communicating
insight into the population health of the group to inform plan design changes and to show
where diverting care saved costs that will not show up in claims.
Alex Lickerman, MD: Based on his book, The Undefeated Mind: On the Science of
Constructing an Indestructible Self, Alex Lickerman, MD will argue that resilience isnt
something with which only a fortunate few of us have been born, but rather something we
can all take action to develop.
In this groundbreaking talk, Dr. Lickerman outlines four of the eight principles discussed in the
book and details not only the data that supports their effectiveness in increasing resilience,
and decreasing anxiety and depression, but also how audience members can put those
principles to work in their own lives."
