My research career in behavioral sciences began in 1982 at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I learned the foundations of ethology and behavioral research, including a strong foundation in statistical analyses under the mentorship of Excellence Foundation Professor in Psychology, Gilbert Gottlib. My training continued at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University and Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, where I developed mouse models of metabolic and endocrine disorders.
