Today, one of the challenges to the K-12 system is in influencing our youth to consider career pathways to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). While our economy faces critical STEM shortages, the K-12 system across the country fails to provide the education that is necessary to engage students meaningfully in STEM related opportunities. The result is that the system is failing far too many students and creating a circumstance under which many young Canadians do not have the skills necessary to participate in the economy.
