My career began in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), where I completed my undergraduate engineering degree and worked as an electronics engineer, strategic transport pilot, flight instructor and test pilot. I completed test pilot training in the UK in 1993, and spent 5 years in collaboration with Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Company in the US, conducting engineering development, experimental flight test and evaluation on the new C130J transport aircraft to ensure that it met FAA and RAAF requirements in regard to operational efficacy, flight safety and human factors engineering.
