Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying its good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation thats least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state theyre comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.

1. 1. Deze algemene voorwaarden zijn van toepassing op
huurovereenkomsten, tussen Columbus Car Rental BV, als
verhuurder en een huurder van een voertuig, die zijn aangegaan na 1
januari 2013.
2. De huurder dient vooraf een borg van Naf 1000,00 (euro 450,00)
te voldoen. Bij een derde / vierde bestuurder wordt een borg
berekend van Nafl 1250,00 (euro 550,00). De vooruitbetaling van de
huur en de borg strekt tot betaling van de verschuldigde huurbedrag,
tot vergoeding van het eigen risico en tot betaling van alle andere
kosten waartoe de huurder gehouden is. De borg terzake van het
eigen risico wordt pas verrekend zodra het voertuig is teruggebracht
bij verhuurder, en zal uiterlijk binnen 14 dagen na inlevering worden
overgemaakt op door de huurder opgegeven bankrekening. Indien de
vordering van verhuurder niet contant of niet op het overeengekomen
tijdstip wordt voldaan, dan is huurder vanaf dat moment de wettelijke
rente, vermeerderd met 2 % op jaarbasis, over het openstaande
bedrag verschuldigd. Indien huurder ook na sommatie in gebreke blijft
het verschuldigde bedrag te betalen, is verhuurder gerechtigd dit
bedrag met de incassokosten te verhogen.
2a De data die zijn vastgelegd bij de definitieve reservering( nadat de
verhuurder de aanbetaling heeft ontvangen) zijn bindend. De huurder
verplicht zich het afgesproken aantal huurdagen te betalen, ook al
wordt de auto later opgehaald of eerder ingeleverd.
2b Voor wijzigingen en schadebehandeling gedurende de looptijd van
het contract, zoals o.a. wijziging van wagen of bestuurders wordt Naf
50,00 aan administratiekosten berekend.
3. De auto is W.A. en Casco verzekerd. Kosten aan de huurauto,
voortvloeiend uit een ongeluk, aanrijding, diefstal, inbraak of
vernieling wordt een eigen risico van resp. euro 500,00 voor casco
schade en euro 250,00 voor wettelijke aansprakelijkheidsschaden (dit
eigen risico geldt per schadegeval) verhaald op de huurder, die
verhuurder terzake vrijwaart, blijft even wel schade aan derden, die
weliswaar door verzekeraar op grond van de wet wordt vergoed doch
terzake waarvan krachtens de polisvoorwaarden geen dekking is. Dit
doet zich voor indien de bestuurder onder invloed van alcohol of drugs
heeft verkeerd ten tijde van het ontstaan van de schade, deze schade
zal volledig op de huurder verhaald worden.
4. Wanneer schade is ontstaan door onverantwoord rijgedrag,
2. opzettelijk handelen of nalaten, aan opzetgrenzende roekeloosheid,
grove nalatigheid of grove schuld van de huurder (waaronder
begrepen indien de bestuurder onder invloed van alcohol en/of drugs
een aanrijding en/of ongeluk heeft veroorzaakt), wordt de gehele
schade op de huurder verhaald.
5. Tenzij van te voren anders is overeengekomen, dient de huurder de
auto bij de verhuurder op te halen. Bij het ophalen van de auto is een
geldig rijbewijs nodig. Huurder verplicht zich het voertuig met alle
accessoires uiterlijk op de dag en het tijdstip dat de overeenkomst
eindigt bij het adres van de verhuurder, in dezelfde staat, normale
slijtage uitgezonderd, terug te bezorgen, tenzij voordien door de
huurder een verlenging van de huurtermijn is aangevraagd en deze
verlenging hem door verhuurder is toegestaan. De aldus verlengde
huurtermijn blijft onderworpen aan deze standaardbepalingen en
eindigt op het nader overeengekomen tijdstip, welke bindend is.
Indien is overeengekomen dat de verhuurder, na inlevering van de
auto, zal worden weggebracht, dient de huurder zich exact aan de
overeengekomen tijd, zoals vermeld op het huurcontract, te houden.
Wordt de auto eerder of later teruggebracht, is de verhuurder niet
verplicht de huurder weg te brengen en dient de huurder zelf voor
vervoer te zorgen.
6. Indien het voertuig niet binnen de in de huurovereenkomst
vermelde, eventueel verlengde, termijn bij de verhuurder weer is
ingeleverd, ontstaat voor de verhuurder het recht tot onmiddellijke
terugname van het voertuig, waarbij overigens de huur automatisch
doorgaat onder dezelfde bepalingen tot en met de dag en het uur dat
het voertuig weer in het bezit is van verhuurder.
Voor ieder extra uur wordt Naf 30,00 in rekening gebracht. Indien de
auto eerder teruggebracht wordt, is de verhuurder niet verplicht geld
terug te geven. Wanneer de huurder aantoont dat overschrijding van
de oorspronkelijke huurtermijn het gevolg is van een hem niet
toerekenbare tekortkoming, zoals een technisch mankement van het
voertuig dat reeds in aanleg aanwezig was bij het aangaan van de
huurovereenkomst, zal het in dit artikel genoemde uurtarief niet in
rekening worden gebracht. Tevens zal door verhuurder worden
beoordeeld, afhankelijk van de omstandigheden van het geval, of over
die periode een (gedeelte van de ) dagprijs verschuldigd is.
7. Gedurende de tijd dat huurder over het voertuig beschikt, zijn
kosten aan het gebruik van het voertuig verbonden zoals
motorbrandstof, stalling, wassen voor rekening van huurder.
3. 8. Alleen diegene die op het huurcontract vermeldt staat met naam en
rijbewijsnummer mag de auto besturen derden die de wagen besturen
en niet bekend zijn bij de verhuurder zijn niet verzekerd.
De auto heeft een inzittendenverzekering. De huurder vrijwaart
verhuurder voor alle schade van inzittenden of derden waarvoor
verhuurder aansprakelijk mocht zijn.
9. De huurder vrijwaart de verhuurder voor alle boetes die aan
verhuurder worden opgelegd ter zake van gedurende de huurtijd door
de bestuurder en/of inzittende gepleegde strafbare feiten, tenzij de
door verhuurder verschuldigde boetes en /of schade een gevolg zijn
van een defect aan het voertuig dat reeds (in eerste aanleg) aanwezig
was bij de aanvang van de huur.
10. Verhuurder is gerechtigd de huurovereenkomst zonder
ingebrekestelling of rechterlijke tussenkomst onmiddellijk te
ontbinden, onverminderd zijn recht op vergoeding van kosten,
schaden en renten, indien blijkt dat huurder tijdens de huurperiode de
verplichtingen van de huurovereenkomst niet, of niet op tijd of niet
ten volle nakomt; bij overlijden, curatele stelling, aanvraag van
surseance van betaling of faillissement van huurder: of indien zich
tussentijds omstandigheden voordoen, waarmee verhuurder bij
aanvang van de huur niet op de hoogte was, welk van dien aard zijn
dat ware verhuurder hiervan op de hoogte geweest, deze de
huurovereenkomst niet was aangegaan.
Huurder is alsdan gehouden het voertuig met accessoires terstond te
retourneren, bij gebreke waarvan verhuurder gerechtigd is zich weer
in het bezit van het voertuig met accessoires te stellen. Huurder
machtigt hierbij de verhuurder of een nader door deze aangewezen
persoon om het voertuig te controleren waar deze zich bevindt dan
wel zich weer in het bezit van het voertuig te stellen.
In het geval dat het voertuig door verhuurder is teruggehaald behoudt
zij alle rechten om de terzake gemaakte kosten of door de verbreking
van de overeenkomst geleden schade op de huurder te verhalen.
11. De huurder dient er voor te zorgen dat geregeld water- en oliepeil
alsmede de bandenspanning wordt gecontroleerd, dat in overleg met
de huurder de verhuurder de gelegenheid krijgt de auto een
onderhoudsbeurt te geven, reparaties te laten doen en de jaarlijkse
keuring te laten verrichten . Bij schade door nalatigheid hiervan zijn
de kosten voor de huurder. Een lekke band moet de huurder op zijn
kosten laten maken bij een tire-repair shop (Naf 10,00) Deze zijn op
verschillende plaatsen langs de weg te vinden. Indien de auto wordt
teruggebracht met een lekke ( reserve) band, wordt Naf 350,00 in
rekening gebracht. Indien een band niet gerepareerd kan worden,
4. dient de huurder op eigen kosten een nieuwe band aan te laten
brengen en de de verhuurder daar onmiddellijk van in kennis te
stellen.
12. De huurder heeft indien verder rijden met het gehuurde voertuig
onmogelijk is, ten gevolge van een defect aan het voertuig slechts
recht op vervangend vervoer, indien er binnen het bedrijf een andere
auto beschikbaar is. Andere kosten of (gevolg) schade worden niet
vergoed. In alle andere gevallen waarbij verder rijden onmogelijk is,
heeft de huurder geen recht op vervangend vervoer.
Voor schade aan lading, hoe dan ook ontstaan, is verhuurder nimmer
aansprakelijk. Huurder, ook indien deze een natuurlijk persoon is die
niet handelt in de uitoefening van een beroep of bedrijf, wordt geacht
van zijn mogelijke schade een eigen verzekering af te sluiten.
De huurder heeft recht op vervangend vervoer, indien de huurder niet
schuldig is bevonden in geval van een aanrijding, mits er vervangend
vervoer beschikbaar is.
13. Huurder verklaart, behoudens tegenbewijs, het voertuig zonder
zichtbare gebreken en/of beschadigingen te hebben ontvangen, tenzij
in de schaderegistratie anders is aangegeven. Ingeval van een defect
aan het voertuig / interieur en/of schade, overkomen aan of
veroorzaakt met het gehuurde voertuig, is de huurder verplicht de
verhuurder hiervan onmiddellijk in kennis te stellen; ( tijdens
kantooruren).
Bij pech onderweg, of bij uw huis / appartement / hotel kunt u de
wegenwacht bellen. ( 9 24 7). De wegenwacht komt niet in het
Christoffelpark en op onverhard en moeilijk te bereiken terrein.
In geval van schade aan de wagen en bij een ongeval / aanrijding is
de huurder verplicht:
a. de verhuurder meteen op de hoogte te stellen en de Road Service
te bellen, nummer 199;
b. indien nodig , de verkeerspolitie waarschuwen ( telefoon 911)
c. daarna instructies van de verhuurder op te volgen, zoals het
overleggen van getuigenverklaringen en/of andere bescheiden die op
de gebeurtenis betrekking hebben;
d. te alle tijde binnen 24 uur, tenzij schriftelijk anders
overeengekomen, een volledig ingevuld en ondertekend
schadeaangifteformulier van de Road Service bij verhuurder in te
leveren of anderszins tijdig ter hand te stellen;
e. zich van erkenning van schuld in welke vorm ook te onthouden
f. het voertuig nooit achter te laten dan na behoorlijke gebruikmaking
van alle veiligheidsvoorzieningen tegen ongevallen, diefstal en inbraak
die aan en in het voertuig zijn aangebracht.
5. g. De verhuurder en eventueel door haar aan te wijzen personen alle
gevraagde medewerking tot verweer tegen aanspraken van derden of
ter verkrijging van schadevergoeding van derden te verlenen en alle
in verband met het ongeval door huurder/bestuurder ontvangen of
aan deze betekende documenten en brieven etc. aan verhuurder af te
geven;
Indien de auto moet worden weggesleept dient men de wegenwacht
te bellen. ( 9 24 7 ) en de verhuurder te informeren.
Indien niet aan het bovenstaande is voldaan vervalt al het
recht op schadevergoeding van de verzekeraar en zal de
gehele schade door de huurder betaald dienen te worden
14. Het voertuig mag niet worden gebruikt of bestuurd:
a door een persoon die niet in het bezit is van een geldig rijbewijs,
wiens juiste naam en adres niet op de huurovereenkomst is vermeld,
of ten aanzien van wie een onjuiste naam, adres of leeftijd is
opgegeven;
b door een persoon onder invloed van alcoholische drank, of van
verdovende en opwekkende middelen, of door een persoon die lijdt
aan enig geestelijk en lichamelijk gebrek, waardoor zijn vermogen om
een voertuig te besturen en/of zijn oplettendheid wordt aangetast:
c voor het vervoer van passagiers of goederen tegen vergoeding, ten
behoeve van een met de wet strijdig doel
( zoals diefstal, smokkel enz.) in snelheidstests, voor het geven van
rij-onderricht, wedstrijden of rallys of voor het voortduwen of slepen
van een ander voertuig en/of trailer.
15. Huurder verplicht zich het voertuig niet te zullen (doen)
overbelasten met passagiers, bagage, lading enz.
16. Normale slijtage onkosten zijn voor rekening van de verhuurder.
17. De autos zijn voorzien van alarm; deze moet ten alle tijden
gebruikt worden.
18. Indien de auto schoon wordt afgeleverd, moet deze ook schoon
teruggebracht worden. Zo niet, dan wordt hiervoor Nafl. 100,00 in
rekening gebracht.
Er moet super getankt worden. ( geel bij de pomp). Bij de aflevering
wordt de tankinhoud bepaald, de auto moet met dezelfde tankinhoud
weer ingeleverd worden. Verschil per 1/8 tank is Nafl. 25,00. Leeg 1/8
1/4 3/8 1/2 5/8 3/4 7/8 Vol
Als de benzinemeter een tankinhoud aangeeft van 村 is het aan te
6. raden om te gaan tanken. De kwaliteit van de benzine is vrij slecht,
dus de tank nooit helemaal leegrijden!
19. Schade aan motor en carrosserie door rijden op onverhard terrein
is ook volledig voor rekening van de huurder.
20. de auto is voorzien van een radio/cd speler met afneembaar front,
deze dient ten alle tijden bij het verlaten van de auto meegenomen te
worden, bij inbraakschade door het niet wegnemen van voornoemd
front zullen de kosten volledig voor rekening van de huurder komen.
LAAT GEEN WAARDEVOLLE SPULLEN ZICHTBAAR ACHTER IN
DE AUTO DIT VOORKOMT SCHADE AAN DE AUTO EN
VERVELENDE AANGIFTES.
21. Huurder dient te voorkomen dat enig recht op het voertuig wordt
gevestigd, dat het wordt uitgeleend of verkocht of dat daarover
anderszins wordt beschikt.
22. Eventuele nietigheid of ongeldigheid van een of meer bepalingen
van deze overeenkomst laten de geldigheid en de toepasselijkheid van
de overigen onverlet. Eventuele kosten voortvloeiend uit het niet
nakomen van deze voorwaarden, zijn volledig voor rekening van de
huurder.
23. Verhuurder is gerechtigd, en de huurder geeft hierbij toestemming
dat op de gehuurde wagen reklame uitingen kunnen worden geplaatst
door de verhuurder voor derden.
24. Alle schades aan de wagen zullen worden gerepareerd door DE
GARAGE weg naar welgelegen z/n.
25.Op de huurovereenkomst en eventuele daaruit voortvloeiende
overeenkomsten is het recht van het land Curacao van toepassing.
Geschillen voortvloeiend uit deze voorwaarden en/of rechten en
plichten van betrokkenen bij overeenkomsten waarop deze
voorwaarden van toepassing zijn, zullen uitsluitend worden beslecht
door de bevoegde rechter te Willemstad (Curacao) en in spoedeisende
gevallen de President van de Rechtbank te Willemstad. Voorwaarden
liggen ter inzage bij de verhuurder en in de huurauto's.
7. Curacao, // 2013 voor gezien en accoord door de huurder:
naam en handtekening
