Editor's Notes

  1. A case in point is GE’s COLAB , a company-wide internal social network aimed at integrating the collective intelligence of 300K workforce spread across all continents to promote collaboration and innovation efficiently. To Ron Utterbeck’s (CIO) pleasant surprise, within 11months ,41% of employees (124K of them) begun using the platform for collaborating and ideating at GE. He claims that solution-providing within GE has improved though they didn’t set out with financial impacts in mind when started with COLAB.
  2. Possibly on of the finest examples of Social Gaming is that of Foldit, a gaming platform which promises to solve puzzles for science. According to Huffington post, it made headlines when a group of avid gamers cracked the structure of the enzyme of Mason-Pfizer Monkey Virus (M-PMV) responsible for AIDS in just 10 days. The mystery had eluded scientists for over 15 years. That’s what you call transformative breakthrough using collective intelligence. And mind you, Foldit is not a platform just for the nerds, it does serious scientific jobs of research and publication in high-tech space.
