Tropical rainforests are located near the equator between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn where it is warm year-round. They receive heavy rainfall annually between 60 to 160 inches, maintaining high humidity between 77-88%. The forests have three canopy layers and the dense vegetation blocks most sunlight from reaching the ground. Some of the largest tropical rainforests are found in the Amazon basin, Congo basin, and islands of Southeast Asia.
