Research of Interest:
1) Genetics research focuses on the application of quantitative and molecular genetic approaches.
2) Genomic Selection: Genomic selection relies on tracking which genes an animal receives from its parents, using so-called genetic markers. With this knowledge, the animals’ breeding value can be predicted accurately in life. Genomic selection, thereby relaxes the need to have performance records of each selected candidate or its close relatives, and allows to reduce generation intervals drastically.
