Melvyn's early career was in the distribution industry before gaining his MSc in Transport Studies at Cranfield in 1984. A four-year spell at the University of Westminster followed where he developed his interest in European logistics and logistical systems before returning to Cranfield in 1988. He has published widely and is a co-author of European Logistics: Markets, Management and Strategy. More recently his work has focused on logistics outsourcing, international sourcing and telematics.
