I'm torn between three influences.
I was born in the midwest in the fifties. Specifically in Oak Park, Illinois. Oak Park was made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright, but we lived literally on the wrong side of the tracks. But it was idilic, so I've got this Ozzie & Harriet side of me. Family, friends, & riding my bike were my life. But I hated the hot (pre-air conditioning)- so when my father got transferred to California, I celebrated. California here I come: perfect weather, beaches, & movie stars.
Imagine my shock when we went to the "beach" near the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time- freezing fog and us in shorts. We learned to love the predictable late afternoon fog rolling over
