My academic research focuses on the reporting of events involving trauma, bereavement or anxiety, particularly concerning the individual family. I have published on narrative styles in death reporting, ethical issues in reporting women asylum seekers’ stories, codes of ethics for bloggers, and with Jackie Newton on preparing novice journalists for the death knock, the use of social media in reporting the bereaved and taking a positive approach to death reporting. I also research media reporting of mental health and suicide.
