Since graduating college, my goal was to become a Research Scientist. I started out as a Microbiology Technician, processing media for tissues used in reconstructive surgery to identify bacterial growth. That position was rewarding, as it was the first time I was exposed to a clinical setting, FDA regulations and asceptic techniques. My next position would be at Emory, where I developed most as a Scientist. At Emory's Department of Surgery, Transplant Division, I created 30 transgenic and knockout mouse strains for the Emory Transplant Center; genotyping by PCR, flow cytometry and ELISA.
