Stephen Shore is an American photographer born in 1947 in New York City. He developed an interest in photography from a young age, receiving his first darkroom kit at age six. By age 10, he was getting recognition from established photographers. In 1971 at age 24, he had a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Known for documenting American and Canadian landscapes in unique photos, Shore was also one of the first to embrace power lines in his photography. He has authored several books on photography and taught the subject at Bard College since 1982.
