My journey as an ASCP- certified medical technologist was launched in the Bacteriology Lab within Union Memorial Hospital. Several years later, my path was re-directed into public health through communicable disease control work as the Laboratory Coordinator for Baltimore City Health Department's Bureau of Disease Control. The position lead to a professional opportunity focused on... medical laboratory training. My professional goal is to help others understand how and why various laboratory procedures are performed in the identification of microorganisms associated with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other communicable diseases.
