A dandy is a man who places great importance on his physical appearance, refined language, and leisure activities which are pursued in a casual manner. He cultivates an image of nonchalance while dedicating significant effort to his self-presentation and style. Dandies emerged in early 19th century Britain and were epitomized by Beau Brummell who emphasized cleanliness, elegant dressing, and an understated demeanor.
