I was born in Colorado; raised up mostly in Virginia, Japan, Texas, and Tennessee. My roots are Southern Appalachian: east Tennessee - western North Carolina - southwestern Virginia. Deeper than that, Scots-Irish mixed mongrel. I come from a long line of strong capable hardworking women on my mother's side.And the men preachers, farmers, coal miners. On my fathers side a long line of strong capable hardworking women and hardworking men who did the best they knowed how. Strictly working class. I have no desire to mine coal. I've made my living digging up the past, framing houses, building furniture, laboring in various ways. I currently attempt to facilitate the learning of masses of students
