Currently a guest-lecturer at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium, over the last 20 years Stefaan Dondeyne has mainly worked on natural resources management projects in tropical Africa. He studied agricultural sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, from where he holds a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences (2004), a Master in Irrigation Engineering (1993) and a Master in Soil Science (1989). With strong roots in soil science, vegetation ecology and water management, his main interests are in participatory research and the social dynamics related to natural resources management.
