In April 2004, a group of teachers and professors decided that, with renewed emphasis on the teaching of English in Chile, it was time to bring TESOL to Chile. A dedicated committee consulted other organizations and teachers from Chilean universities and public schools to find out how the organization could best serve the teaching community of Chile. TESOL CHILE became active in 2004 with its first national conference in August and its first international conference in December. The election of officers in December made Mary Jane Abrahams the president for a 2-year term. Mary Jane Abrahams got re-elected until Dec 2009. Thomas Baker is our new president (2010-2011).
