So, where does this admittedly odd name "Tennis" come from? How did I get the name?
First of all, yes, it is my real name, not a nickname. Yes, it is on my birth certificate. No, my parents had nothing to do with the sport. No, I don't play, never have played, and probably never will play tennis (silly waste of time if you ask me). Yes, I like the name even though I have to explain it a lot. Finally, yes, I have heard every imaginable tennis/ball/racket/court/elbow joke there is.
It appears the use as a Christian (or 'first') name is specific to the South-Eastern US. I am from North
