I got into the Psychology Faculty with a clear plan in mind – I will (at some point) be a great psychotherapist, but until then, I will have to make a living from something – and so I chose HR, as it was the next best thing. Of course, at that time, HR meant Recruitment and Selection and maybe some administrative work.
I had the chance to find out more about HR during my college years, through a student’s NGO. I then understood that HR is more than just recruitment or other processes, that it is all about people, and about finding ways to make them feel valued, to help them grow into the best version of themselves. And just like that, HR became more than the second best.
