Maybe I'll be proved wrong in my lifetime. Test automation may become very smart but I just don't believe it will ever replace a good tester.
Don't get me wrong, automation is key. It's just that you need good testers to implement automation. Even then you still need good testers to carry out exploratory testing. You need good testers with talent and instinct to help deliver quality products on time.
Herein lies the complexity of creating a high performing, highly efficient test team.
