After the Fukushima accident, many countries have begun to develop accident tolerant fuel (ATF) for LWRs, including Korea, which could enhance fuel safety during accident conditions while maintaining performance and economy under normal operation. My division is actively working on several kinds of accident tolerant cladding and fuel candidates, some of which began to be tested in the Halden reactor of Norway from December 2015.
