Khoo Ying Hooi is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of International and Strategic Studies, University of Malaya. Ying Hooi completed her PhD in Politics and Government with her thesis entitled, "Social Movements and Democratization in Malaysia." She is the Deputy Editor of Malaysian Journal of International Relations (MJIR) and sits in the editorial board of Suvannabhumi: Multi-disciplinary Journal of Southeast Asian Studies. A columnist in the Malaysian Insider, she is also part of the Pacific Forum Young Leaders and serves as independent consultant for various organizations.
