I am the General Manager of Al-Thiqa, a nongovernmental organization (NGO) in Iraq established in 2004. Al-Thiqa, meaning trust in Arabic is engaged in providing small loans to micro and small enterprises and low income households in Central and Northern Iraq. Serving over 14,000 clients through its eight branches and three satellite offices in seven governorates and employing 142 employees Al-Thiqa is the largest Iraqi-managed microfinance NGO in Iraq. In 2009 Al-Thiqa was recognized by the USAID Provincial Economic Growth (Tijara) program as the Microfinance Institution of the Year.
