A National Defence Academy (NDA) graduate and Defence Services Staff College alumnus, Ajay did his M.Tech in Thermal Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. Having taken pre-mature release from Defence, after commanding his regiment as a full Colonel, he attended the one year MBA program (PGPX) at IIM Ahmedabad, during 2006-07.
He was Vice President with National Institute for smart Government (NISG) from Apr 2007 till Apr 2010. While here, he was coordinating the NISG activities with Central Govenment in Delhi & the Northern States.
