I make other people look good on the web, so they don't have to. I connect the messager and message with the audience in ways appropriate & specific to the channel (and in turn connect the audience with the messager).
My typical tools are Drupal, Wordpress, Photoshop, Lightroom, and some CSS and HTML here and there. I'm currently the community manager for our college on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and YouTube.
