Samantha Allen, Sophomore, Management Science Major Match: Jeff Martin ‘03, Canon ―I just wanted to say that it was amazing and words cannot describe how much I enjoyed the opportunity! The externship exceeded my expectations; I thought it was going to be another day at the office. I got to take a tour of the distribution warehouse, which was a dream come true for someone interested in supply chain management like myself. I got to meet with an HR employee, where I received valuable advice about interviews and human resources in general. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to advance myself further during my time at SMU.‖ Student’s Reflections
Racquel Mooring, Junior, CCPA Match: Jana Mathena ‘02 , Owner, Gameday Cloth ―She explained the importance of networking and developing relationships, while Scott encouraged me to take extra business and financing classes to be more rounded as a future business owner.‖ ―I felt like I could ask them anything and I still do. Both of them would make excellent mentors. They also made me proud to be a Mustang, to represent my school even after graduating, and to always give back to the place that poured into you the most.‖
Michael Iwuoha, First Year, Finance Major Match: Paul Panza ‘07 , Acquisitions Analyst at Westmount Realty Capital ―This externship was big eye-opener for me. Before this, I thought real estate was boring and something I’d never want to do, but now I feel it’s something I’d be interested in.‖
Laura Olson, First Year, Spanish and Pre-Business Major Match: Lisa Decker ’92, Headhunter, Lucas Group – Aurora, CO ―To sum up my externship in one word would have to be—amazing. I never really knew all that much about headhunting but after being with Lisa for one day I know that this is something I am hoping to look into more. I inquired if Lucas Group did internships for college students. They were very open to the idea of me working with them this summer a few days a week to see if this job could potentially be something I want to do after graduation.‖

75% of students strongly felt prepared for the externship. 70%of students agreed that THE EXTERNSHIP IMPACTED THEIR CAREER DECISIONS
95%PLAN ON STAYING IN contact with their alumni host 74% will sign up FOR ANOTHER EXTERNSHIP 100% would recommend the externship to other SMU Students
