Amanda Clay Powers is an associate professor; virtual reference project manager; social media, extension and ag & life sciences subject librarian and the chair of the 2.0 initiative and Emerging Technologies Summit at the MSU Libraries. She manages the libraries' social media presence and virtual reference program including chat, email, mobile and social networking services. She speaks nationally on issues related to social media as it applies to academia and libraries. Her research focuses on using data gathered from virtual reference transactions to make the library more relevant and accessible, including applying this assessment to web design.
