This document discusses two research papers about mechanisms of gene silencing by double-stranded RNA and the role of short RNAs in regulating gene expression in germ cells. The first paper from 2004 describes mechanisms by which double-stranded RNA induces gene silencing through RNA interference. The second paper from 2007 examines how short RNAs regulate expression of genes and mobile elements in germ cells.
