I believe that a person's work needs to be something s/he wants to spend time in, because s/he WILL spend time in it, and if s/he does not want to be there, s/he will be miserable.
I believe that our engagement with work comes from:
1) Correlation between (a) the talents, knowledge, skills, and abilities we bring with us and (b) what is required for the job;
2) Thoughtful, integrated on-boarding into the organizational culture and sufficient training to be able to complete all of the requirements of the job; and
3) Organizational dynamics that support effective functioning.
If any of the above are missing, employee engagement will suffer. I am driven to create these elements of eff
